Flight delay and cancellation compensation for passengers
The government stepped up surveillance on civil aviation operations after a series of accidents in Algeria. A new law stipulates to appoint surveillance agents to enter airports and planes. Airliners will have to pay compensation to clients in case of delay or cancellation of trips.
According to Law 14/15 published on the Official Journal, surveillance agents will be in charge of inspecting air equipment manufacturing places and confiscating any unsafe aircraft. Military airplanes are not concerned by those measures.
The surveillance agents can work with security forces if necessary. A national commission can be set up to ensure planes security in accordance with international aviation standards.
The new law stipulates financial compensation following a delay or cancellation of trips.
