Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saidani expressed astonishment over a controversy following a reshuffle in the military institution. “All the states are based on constitutions. The popular will and the Republic’s institutions are submitted to the Constitution. All the decisions were made in accordance to it,” he said.

“The dismissal of General Tewfik is President’s sovereign decision,” he added.

The FLN’s leader held some “parts” of hindering the transition phase.

“The President worked accordingly to priorities starting by restoring peace and security then building the State’s institutions. The constitutional revision will be the last reform workshops as part of building the civil state. The amendment will pass by a popular referendum,” he said.

Speaking about his political initiative, Saidani said it is “for everyone even the opposition parties.”

He believes that the opposition parties do not have ready alternatives. “I wonder why a controversy was raised about the President’s brother and his advisor. He wants to run for office. The current President will reach his last term in 2019. There will be no anticipated presidential elections anyway.”
