Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games: Algerian Olympic Squad Subdue Cameroon
The Algerian under-23 football team clinched Sunday the bronze medal after its victory over Cameroon (2-0) in a classification match for the 3rd place of the football tournament of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games (JSI -2017) held in Baku (Azerbaijan).
The Algerian player Ahmed Gagaâ opened the scoring in the 55th minute on a penalty kick, before his team-mate Abderrahim Hamra added the second goal in the 63rd minute of the hotly-disputed fixture.
As a recall, in addition to the Islamic Solidarity Games, the Algerian under-23 football team is also bracing for the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 2018, and this will be a preparation for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, which remains the main objective of the Algerian Olympic football team.
It should also be noted that the final of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games was due to take place on Sunday at 21h 00 local time (18h 00 Algerian time) in Baku and oppose Azerbaijan, the organizing country and another Arab country, namely Oman.
