War Veterans Minister, Tayeb Zitouni, criticized the French media which asked Algeria in retrieve French nationals’ properties or compensating them, by responding; “Algeria did not colonize France? Why do French media dare to announce such demand?”.

He added in a statement, in front of the revolutionary family, in Tassili hall in Illizi, on Sunday; “even if the Algerian government will accept the requests of compensation of some French properties, then Algeria have the right in retrieving the documents and letters which France stole from the national archive, and which number is more than 200,000 boxes of archive, and more than 60,000 tons with regard to the national memory.
“where are the French compensations over million and half million martyrs who died during the revolution? Where is compensation to more than 8000 villages who were destructed? France should compensate victims of May 8, 1945, and victims of the nuclear experiences in Reggane, and the list of lawful demands is long”.
“Algeria agreed with France in the economic and commercial relationships, but history of the Algerian nation is holy and is not permissible to harm it at any circumstance. Excellent relationships with France will be realized only through opening subject of the history. Algerian history should be written, as France continued describing the liberation revolution with Algeria events, which disagrees with the real history.”
“War Veterans Ministry is not Social Issues Ministry only, but it has historic dimensions rather than social to preserve the national memory”.
