Republican (right) Party MP called upon the French National Assembly (parliament) to stop the implementation of the programs of teaching the original languages and cultures that are addressed to the migrants of nine countries: Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia in the Arabic language, Latin European and the Balkans languages.

The request was made in the form of a written question dated, July,10, by the French National Assembly’s Republican MP, and was addressed to the National Education Minister.

The accountability is reported to have drawn the attention of the Education Minister, about the teaching of indigenous languages known as ELCO, which was due to expire in February 2016.

“This program to teach the languages of the indigenous cultures of migrants has been maintained and is applied on the ground. It concerns the nationals of nine countries: Algeria, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Serbia, Tunisia and Turkey”.

The MP who belongs to the party of the former President, Nicolas Sarkozy, explained that this education was adopted in the framework of bilateral agreements and its principle is controlling the mother tongue, and it is necessary and important for the success of the teaching of another language.

He asked the French Education Ministry to reveal the steps that it intends to take in the framework of ethnic control in order to put an end to the teaching of the original languages and cultures of migrants, which means Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and other European countries.

French Foreign Ministry confirmed last November, in response to a parliamentary question on the teaching of Amazigh language in France, that the language is not interested in education programs, but it is not unlikely to be subject to an optional written examination in the future in the French baccalaureate.
