Ghezzal officially quits French Lyon club
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas Friday announced that Algerian international player Rachid Ghezzal will not renew his contract with the French club.
Aulas told a press conference he started negotiating with some strikers to replace the Algerian player.
“We decided not not renew Ghezzal’s contract. We made this decision after long consultations. Now, we are looking for his successor,” he said.
“We unanimously decided not to satisfy Rachid’s financial requirements,” he added.
Earlier, Ghezzal asked for a pay raise but his club administration rejected his demand.
The player had a difficult season. He only played 25 matches and scored two goals. He was criticized by funs and managers for his declining technical level.
Lyon’s funs expressed anger on Facebook against Ghezzal for being “ungrateful” to the team which was part in his fame.
