Algerian Transport Minister Amar Ghoul has confirmed that the Government has so far received no formal requests for the opening of the capital of the Algerian airline company or for fresh investment opportunities in the national air transport sector from private airline operators.

Mr Amar Ghoul recalled to this effect that the process in this field of airline activity has been frozen by the government since 2009.

The transport minister pointed out that the final decision to reopen the national air transport sector to private airline companies fell within the sole province of the government after a deep perusal by the relevant authorities of this outstanding file as part of the updating of the code on civil aviation to make it tally with international standards.

Mr Ghoul further announced the launching shortly of joint airline tickets between Air Algerie and Tassili airlines for both internal and external flights as part of a support program for the benefit of the Algerian air carrier.
