Giant ship in Algeria to cover trips to France and Spain
The National Enterprise of Maritime Transport will back up its international lines with a giant ship. It will be constructed by a Chinese group within 26 months, an official at the enterprise told Echorouk on Tuesday.
The new ship capacity is 1,800 passengers and 600 cars. It will head for Spain and France to reduce pressure on the enterprise fleet which does not exceed four ships.
According to the same source, an agreement was reached on the construction of the giant ship which will be allocated for international maritime transport lines.
About 250,000 passengers use maritime lines between Algeria, France and Spain during Summer. The giant ship would reduce pressure and enhance services quality for clients.
The agreement stipulates to finish the construction within 26 months. The ship would be able to carry 1,800 passengers. It would have 1,500 beds, 300 seats and a garage for 600 cars.
The official said the revenues of the National Enterprise of Maritime Transport have increased for the last three years. This has been due to the diversification of international lines, discounts and flexible procedures.
A total of 327 trips are scheduled between June 15th and September 15th to transport more than 250,000 passengers.
Once the new ship is constructed, Tarek Ibn Ziad Ship will carry passengers on domestic lines.
