Chairman of the Independent Syndicate of Public Health Practitioners, Ilyas Merabet, revealed on suspending the protests and strikes in the health sector, during Ramadan and summer vacation until holding an expanded national council with the next social entry in September.

Merabet told Echorouk that the decision to suspend the protest will be temporary until assessing the situation and holding an extended national council that includes members of the local offices across the hospitals, and the expanded council will evaluate the syndicate’s relationship with the ministry, and the extent of considering the filed claims.
“Several general associations will be held as from July to September, and will all prepare the National Council”.
President of the Syndicate of Health Practitioners considered that what happened in the last sit-in on June 10, from arrests of the members is dangerous, and affects the freedom of syndicates’ activity in Algeria, and apply restrictions on syndicates’ freedoms, confirming that more than 11.000 practitioners of public health are doctors, dentists and pharmacists are stuck to their demands and will not back down their decision until the final settlement of files.
“Health Ministry did not move despite all the correspondences that were sent by the Syndicate of Health Practitioners, to ask for the opening of the doors of dialogue with the minister personally, demanding the intervention of the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, for the purpose of reducing the practices that are imposed by the syndicate work, in the framework of the application of the reconciliation meeting which was held since last May and remained just ink on paper.”
