A French soldier who served in Algeria, Henri Pouillot, wrote a letter to the French President, Emmanuel Macron, explaining the brutal practices of the brutal French occupation army on the occasion of the French state’s recognition of the crimes of its army during the liberation revolution and its apology to the late Maurice Audin who was the Friend of the Liberation Front Army in Algeria.

Pouillot, who served in Algeria as part of the occupation army between 1961 and 1962, and exactly in the Villa Susini in Algiers, monitored the French crimes of torture and extrajudicial killings of Algerians who were caught by the hands of the colonial army.

The former French soldier, expressed his satisfaction with Macron’s decision to recognize the responsibility of the French state for what happened to Maurice Audin, because torture was institutionalized, “which caused me nightmares”, he said in the letter that was published by the French-language website “Al Djazair Al Watania”, “National Algeria”, on Sunday.

Pouillot confirmed that since his return to the civilian life, the case of Maurice Audin has taken a lot of his time and effort, which made Macron’s decision soften his chest, asserting that Audin died while in prison, which condemns anyone who tried to cover up his case from the French officials circles.
