Human rights activists and imams revolted against some articles that came out of the new Children’s Act, which was discussed last week in the parliament, and considered the intervention of social assistance that was approved by this law, an encouragement for some children – especially as we are in the time of the Internet and the proliferation of social ills – to express rebellion and freedom from family restrictions, and this leads, according to them, to creating a barrier between mother and child.

In this regard, a lawyer at the Supreme Court, Khaled Burgul, told Echorouk, that the new Kid’s Act, like the Women Protection Law and the criminalization of violence against women, raised a debate under pressure from international organizations and some feminist associations that are saturated with Zionist ideology, which did not find a definitive solution in Algeria, because its goal is tearing the family through the intervention of prosecution between husband and wife, and the intervention of social assistance between parents and their children, ending with the criminalization of violence that can not be distinguish between the sexes.

“How do we see today the Algerian child abandoned publicly by the kids institutions and lives in an educational system that is boiling amid strikes for years, and we come to take the kid from his mother?”.

“Political stalemate in Algeria led to turning the debate and controversy on another issue, which is the family, and the new laws with respect to the family and the child will not be acceptable by a large category of society.”

With regard to launching the point on “social assistance”, under the pretext of lack of eligibility for raising and protection from family, he said, “This assistance will not be in all cases better than the mother.”

For its part, the lawyer, Zahia Mokhtari, said that the old law of the family and the child, explains in some of the articles, the way to protect the child, as he found solutions through assistance in the absence of the role of parents.

“Today, we can not take the kid of his/her parents, once they are bothered of their kids or wanted to liberate from the constraints of family through inventing arguments or justifications that may be false in most cases.”

“Algerian society noticed anomalies of parents who are not fit to raise their children, and we can not generalize this situation, and make it enhance the game of “cat and mouse” between parents and children, as it is in French families.”

Imam Djamal Ghoul, President of the Independent National Council for the Nation, said the interest and protection of the child, needs sometimes intervention of guides educators in the family, especially if the parents are not eligible for education, these are anomalies in Algeria, but this does not require intervention of social assistance to encourage rebellion of children from the family restrictions considering that this proposal opens the door to a lot of risks that may facilitate the way for dismantling them.
