Illegal immigrants to be prevented from entering France for 5 years after expulsion

French Senate, with the right-wing majority, tightened the procedures on the entry of Algerian immigrants from North African countries, in particular, as the essence which amendments focused on the draft law on the foreigners’ right on the part that is related to the legislation of mixed marriage and family reunification, which are the primary cause of the migration of Algerians to France, asserting on the need to tighten deportation procedures against illegal immigrants.

According to the summary of the law committee, at the French Senate Council, which is controlled by the former President Nicolas Sarkozy’s party, who is known for his hostile stances toward Algeria; the procedures for granting the residence for many years are restricted, through exception of working immigrants, who have held limited work period or foreigners who have exceptional license to stay on the French territory.

Sarkozy’s party,directly targeted, the case of family reunification and mixed marriages, which is the most important cause of Algerian migration to France, as during 2014, over 25.000 Algerians obtained residences in this country, and 19,000 of them due to family reunification and mixed marriages.

The Council adopted the period of continuous and systematic and legally presence on the French territory for obtaining  the residence, in the context of marriage or family reunification, to 24 months, or two years, instead of 18 months.

With regard to the deportation procedures from the French territory has been tightened, according to the same document, which copy is available to Echorouk, and the French security services will be able to enter to the illegal migrant’s house, at the control of an authorized judge. This is when the “migrant” is restricted with the obligatory residence procedures, and to make the procedure quite similar to the procedure for the immigrant’s security escort, to the consulate of his/her country for his/her expulsion from French territory.
