Imam’s function becomes a new specialty in universities

Decision to include the specialty of professional Bachelor in the Imamate raised a large controversy in the religious and academic community, because some MPs fear of emptying the profession of Imamate from its prestige, through training imams on demand, while some parties praised the decision of the Ministries of Higher Education and Religious Affairs, because it comes as a positive step to curb what has become known as the chaos of Fatwa.

For the first time, the new student guide for the professional Bachelor will be followed by the Masters and a PHD in the specialty of the Imamate in Algerian universities, as it is a first step that came from a joint decision between the Ministries of Higher Education and Religious Affairs and Endowments.

But this decision angered those who believe in the imposition of this specialization and its inclusion in the university for students who are holding a baccalaureate degree, from those wishing to study Sharia and Islamic Sciences as step that was launched by the ministry to adjust the fatwas and train imams on the demand, and cut the road in front of some Islamic movements which they do not like, among imams worshipers in mosques and sit on the platform.
