Industry minister: Rabrab cheats Algerians and favors France

Algerian industry minister Abdesselam Bouchouareb Monday said businessman Issad Rabrab is cheating people by trying marketing fake equipment, in response to the latter’s remarks.

“Rabrab favorites France. He brings junk to his country and keep sophisticated devices in France,” Bouchouareb told journalists.

“Rabrab, it’s time to let public opinion hears the government’s point of view about your allegations. You said I refuse to receive you and I freeze your projects,” he added.

The minister also said the former member of the Enterprise Chiefs Forum inflates invoices. “He markets fake equipment through his home appliance manufacturing subsidy in France.”

“Rabrab applies a double standard in dealing with investment in Algeria and France,” he added.

He said he did not receive any letter from Rabrab but he received his personal representative in June. “I gave him all the necessary details. Why does he talk about that months later?”

This comes as the minister and the businessman exchanged criticism as the latter accused the government of “hindering” his investments.

“I don’t understand why the industry ministry refuses to make easy for Algerians to provide world markets with locally made projects? Go to the minister and ask him why,” said Rabrab.

Speaking about the new investment law, Bouchouareb said it will be passed by the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. It incudes three axes in favour of foreign investors. It is also meant to reinforce the role of the investment development national agency and offer new advantages for national and foreign investors.
