“INTERPOL” Busts Gang Network Involved In Theft Of Luxury Cars From France

A week ago, “INTERPOL”, in coordination with the Algerian police services, launched an in-depth security investigation across more than 13 provinces, most of them in eastern Algeria, including Khenchela, Skikda, Annaba, Guelma, Batna, well as Biskra and El Oued in the south, in addition to Mostaganem and Oran in the western part of the country, in connection with a suspicious criminal activity.

This criminal activity was spearheaded by gang members and international networks, specializing in the theft of luxury cars, from France and then smuggling these stolen vehicles them into Algeria, after forging the relevant documents.

In the framework of bilateral cooperation, members of the International Police Task Force in the French city of Lyon were entrusted last week with scanning documents and ascertaining identification of luxury cars stolen from France through monitoring by the “GPRS” surveillance system across the national territory.

Sources reported that investigators of the International Criminal Police, “INTERPOL” and in coordination with the Algerian security services, inspected a number of vehicles and luxury cars, most of them were seized by the Algerian security services, in various combing operations.

The combined security investigations have resulted in the arrest of members of the criminal gang in several parts of the country.

The first investigation between the national security services and “INTERPOL” thus enabled the identification of a host of members of criminal networks operating internationally between Algeria and France through the neighboring country of Tunisia.
