A corporate Italian complex building group has clinched a mega deal for the achievement of the largest Algerian tourism project to be located in south of the country since independence. The planned tourism project is dubbed “Resort Oasis Desert Rose” to be implanted in Ouargla province.

This major tourism project comes amid a wave of corruption scandals involving several  Italian companies in their dealings with Algeria with on focus ENI and SAIPEM energy firms, and raises questions about how and why this new mega project has been allotted to yet another Italian company dealing with infrastructure projects in the tourism field.

In this context, well-informed sources told “Echorouk” that the Ministry of Tourism had awarded the largest Algerian tourism project in the south since Algeria’s independence to this Italian complex group, pointing out that this project is a tourist resort of a world standing, and whose cost is estimated at more than one billion and 300 million Euros, the equivalent of over 13 billion centimes in Dinars.

This mega tourism project will span a total  of 150 hectares, and will include the construction of a world-class and very modern tourist resort in order to turn it into a global tourist destination in the heart of the Algerian desert.

The same sources also indicated that the building works are expected to be completed within an 18-month period deadline by this Italian company.
