Industry minister Mahdjoub Bedda Wednesday received Italian Ambassador to Algiers who expressed Fiat Chrysler’s desire to establish a plant to assemble cars in Algeria.

According to the ministry, the Ambassador said Fiat Chrysler had started seeking Algerian sub-contractors for its project.

Bedda expressed his delight about the project, saying “it is possible that it enters a concretizing  phase after preparing specifications.”

The Ambassador was accompanied by a delegation of the Italian company.

Bedda also said his ministry is ready to “accompany the projects which are part of the government’s strategy.”

He discussed with his Italian guests about partnership opportunities in different fields.

He said the ministry’s priority is the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, textile and mechanic industries.

The Ambassador said his country wants to develop bilateral relations and called on Italian companies to come to Algeria for investment.
