The National Gendarmerie commander Menad Nouba ordered his forces to tighten the noose on terror support cells in 15 provinces in eastern Algeria, Echorouk has learnt.

A joint operations cell was launched by Algerian and Tunisian military commandments. They will work on unifying information, data and security notifications to face terrorist organizations including Daech.

Security measures were stepped up on Algerian Tunisian borders as the Tunisian defence ministry Sunday published photos of terrorists’ hideouts.

General Menad stressed the necessity of mobilizing border guards, search, intervention units and air forces to keep watch on borders.

He also ordered to reactivate roads security patrols to foil any smuggling attempt.

According to the same sources, Tunisian and Algerian military commandments are coordinating continuously by unifying information and security data.

Joint military patrols were created and checkpoints were set up along borders.

General security director at the National Gendarmerie said a new strategy was decided to secure borders and create new units.

“This strategy came in view of the current circumstances in borders. The new plan will mobilize all the units,” he added.
