Although the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed Ghazi, announced that the holy month of Ramadan will notice the reopening of the arduous occupations file that are concerned with the possibility of retirement, starting from the age of 55 for men and 50 years for women, according to the degree of fatigue due to hard work, but the work with the list will start on January 2018, after the completion of the list that is also prepared by the General Union of Algerian Workers, to compile with the two the lists and take a final decision.

Chairman of the Arduous Occupations Committee at the General Union of Algerian Workers, Mohamed Lakhadar Badr Eddine told Echorouk that the adoption of the list of arduous occupations will be realized formally at beginning of 2018, after the completion of the study of all the existing sectors at the level of 28 federations that meet every Monday at the General Union of Algerian workers, noting that the committees are currently in the process of working with doctors who valuate the injuries that can be exposed to staff at the level of each sector, and the health difficulties that are associated with the practice of each activity.

“Doctors visit workshops to meet the workers and inspect the working conditions and collect their reports once a week, while the experts of the Central Trade Union collect the reports of the arduous occupations of a number of countries, and they are currently studying the American model, after completing the study of the French model”.

“Work of the General Union of Algerian Workers is independent from the Ministry of Labor, Social Work and Social Security, and they exercise it without any pressures. New list and the commencement of working with it has nothing to do with the contents of the pension’s law that abolished pre-retirement and relative retirement from the beginning of June 2017”.
