Maj. Gen. Nezzar: “Colonel Ben Ouda grants Egypt Algeria’s weapons without consultation”
Maj. Gen. who retired from the ranks of the National People’s Army, and the former Defense Minister, Khaled Nezzar, revealed, on the background of the statements that were made by Colonel Amara Ben Ouda, who accused him of masterminding a plot to dismiss President Chadli Bendjedid at the time, and said that it comes to a personal conflict between the two men back to the sixties, when Maj. Gen. Nezzar was charged of retrieving weapons that Algeria gave to Egypt, and Libya in the framework of the Arab war.
Maj. Gen. Nezzar said, in a media statement to “Algerie Patriotique” website, that it he was an answer on other questions about the changes that touched the intelligence service, adding; “I’m neither surprised of his comments nor with other statements before him, by those who have made of Ben Djedid their hero. Someday I will appear on the TV and I’ll tell everything I think about the Hero”.
“El Taref has many war veterans who are still alive and they know him very well. I’m wondering about the reason for launching the charges, despite the many statements of Chadli in which he said that he resigned willingly, and this was circulated in newspapers of that period, and he also said this in his memoirs. “
