Makri: The President’s inner circle strives to “abduct” the state!
Abderrazak Makri, the President of the Movement of a Society for Peace (MSP) has accused President Bouteflika, the Government and Parliament of misleading the Algerian people by seeking to “kidnap” the State through the enforcement of the contentious new Finance Act, which he described as far from being “sovereign”.
He contended that the President’s inner circle is seeking to play for time in order to carry through the President’s fourth successive mandate without any turbulence, while denouncing at the same time the latter’s repeated attempts to hide the truth to the Algerian people about President Bouteflika’s debilitating disease in a bid to maintain the damaging political status-quo, as he put it.
Mr Makri also underlined that such a “logjam situation” harboured wittingly by the ruling establishment is highly counter-productive as far as democracy practice is concerned and suggested that the most suitable solution to get out of this political quandary is the holding of early presidential polls as early as possible in line with the demands of the majority of political parties on the national scene.
The MSP leader further expressed utter surprise at the strenuous insistence by the power establishment to expedite the endorsement of the 2016 Finance Act, which is, he argued, the most “dangerous and irrational” law in the history of the Algerian state.
The move is intended to “tighten the grip” on the whole State apparatus on the part of the President’s close entourage, stressing that the latter solely want to preserve their vested interests by remaining at the helm as long as possible in blatant defiance of good governance, political transparency and alternation of power, Abderrazak Makri underscored.
