Man shot during police patrol in Constantine
A 24-year-old man Wednesday died after he had been mistakenly shot by a security keeper in the province of Constantine.
The incident took place when a security patrol was passing by Bardo area. They saw a young man who left his home in bad temper. A policeman tried to calm him down. The police car was destroyed and a policeman was beaten by a stick. An officer who was in the back of the car appeared and opened fire just to calm down the situation. Yet, the shot hit the young man who immediately died.
Shortly later, a group of residents and the young man’s neighbors took to the street calling for prosecuting the policeman who killed Bilel.
The protesters blocked the road between the main bust station in the city and downtown. They used stones and set fire on car wheels. An hour later, they stopped their protests in the absence of security forces. The body was taken to a morgue.
