The trade Ministry has begun bracing up for the holy month of fasting of Ramadan, by taking a series of bold steps to subdue the “greed” of certain venal traders as well as to eliminate the hovering crisis of scarcity and the problem of imbalance in the trading distribution network during the month of fasting, including the launch of markets for low-income earners in each municipality in order to ensure the availability of foodstuffs and staple commodities at low and affordable prices.

The trade ministerial department is preparing, in this context to launch an ambitious project related to the creation of pilot markets in each municipality meant to bring citizens to consume “Algerian-made products”, in partnership with the General Union of Algerian workers (UGTA) in order to “smash” the usual price spiral during the month of Ramadan and to stamp out speculation practices.

The process of this commendable endeavour is yet to be finalized, according to sources from the trade ministry, but preparations are steadily underway to ensure the full success of the project, which aims to encourage citizens of all walks of life to shift to local consumption-oriented products especially during the upcoming month of Ramadan.
