Morocco prevents 42 Syrian nationals from reaching Algeria
Moroccan authorities prevented Syrian refugees stuck in Faqiq next to the province of Bechar from going to Beni Ouanif crossing point. An Algerian delegation was waiting for them.
The delegation included provincial and security authorities, representtaives of the foreign ministry, the UNHCR and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
They had waited next to the crossing point for almost an hour but in vain. Dr. Hamdi Boukhari, a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross, expressed dissatisfaction due to several reports about the situation of 42 Syrian refugees in the area of Faqiq in Morocco.
The prefect of Bechar said the Algerian authorities are ready to receive “Syrian brothers who fled the war.”
Echorouk has learnt that the foreign ministry works with international organizations to solve the problem of Syrian refugees.
The UNCR sounded the alarm about Morocco’s decision which confirms the repression of human’s rights. Rabat exploited the situation of Syrian children, women, men and old people in a political conflict with Algiers. This is due to Algeria’s international positions about the issue of neighbour countries.
