Morocco’s Makhzen is involved in driving out and “throwing” Syrian refugees to Moroccan-Algerian borders. The country accuses Algeria of being behind the operation, according to a confidential document.

A letter sent by Morocco’s General Department of National Territory Surveillance to the interior ministry shows that Syrians’ presence represents a “danger” on the Kingdom.

“We are asking for collaboration between security forces for the deportation of the groups present on the national territory to the Moroccan-Algerian borders. Borders surveillance should be stepped up and Syrians must not be allowed to enter the Kingdom,” said the document.

This shows Makhzen’s involvement in chasing Syrian refugees in an unhuman way. The second part of Morocco’s revealed plan started by trying to accuse Algeria and not taking in consideration good neighboring and diplomatic traditions.

Makhzen’s documents reveal official lies scandal

The confidential document came a few days after a debate raised by Moroccan media which accused Algerian authorities of kicking out Syrian refugees.

Earlier in January 2014, Algeria summoned Morocco’s ambassador in response to the Moroccan authorities for summoning the Algerian ambassador to Rabat. Morocco expressed its dissatisfaction over the “deportation” of more than 20 Syrians to its territory, according to a release from its foreign ministry.

Algeria does not kick out refugees

An Algerian borders guard official told Anadolu Agency that the Syrian refugees who Moroccan media talked about were not in Algeria.

“Those refugees were not on the Algerian territory because borders between the two countries have been closed since 1994,” he said.

Colonel Mohamed Boualaq told journalists border guards did not allow Syrian refugees to enter as Moroccan authorities wanted to chase them to Algeria.

“Facts are falsified. Those Syrian nationals were present in Morocco,” he added.

Furthermore, videos posted by Moroccan media show that it was only the journalist who alleged that Algeria chased the refugees while they did not talk about that at all.

The document shows that Moroccan intelligence in collaboration with security forces are behind the deportation of Syrians to the Moroccan-Algerian borders. This is done as part of a propaganda aiming at hitting Algeria.
