The Algerian Foreign Ministry has taken new measures designed to facilitate the granting of the biometric passports to Algerian nationals abroad, where mobile teams will be tasked with the prior processing of files before providing Algerian nationals overseas with biometric passports, particularly those settled in areas remote from the Consulates.

This eased procedure will greatly curtail the endless waiting queues in front of the Consulates in many countries overseas and lessen the suffering of expatriate families with their children at the gates of the Consulates, on the one hand, and spare them the trouble and time to move about as well.

Diplomatic sources told “Echorouk” that the Algerian Consulates and Embassies overseas had recently received the relevant instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointing to the imperious need of setting up special mobile squads entrusted with collecting files of Algerian nationals vying for biometric passports especially those living in the provincial districts far away from the Algerian diplomatic representations including those families who have professional obligations and who find it difficult to go to the Consulate itself.

After the thorough examining and the processing of the collected

application files, the recipient is contacted on the phone in order to determine the date and the place where he intends to get in touch with the Consular officers on duty to wrap up the process of the biometric passport delivery, the same sources added.
