Official State Positions Provide For The Possession Of Algerian Nationality

An executive decree that was issued in the latest Official Gazette specifies the model of the official declaration of the enjoyment of Algerian nationality, which requires the assumption of higher responsibilities in the state and political functions.

The decree states that the persons provided for in article 2 of Law No. 17-01, which sets out the list of higher responsibilities in the State and the political functions which required for the enjoyment of Algerian nationality, dated on January,10, 2017, are required to deposit the ceremonial declaration of the exclusive enjoyment of Algerian nationality by the President The Supreme Court in two copies in accordance with the special model, and one of them was handed over to the concerned person.

Article 2 of this law requires the exclusive enjoyment of Algerian nationality to assume the highest responsibilities in the State and the following political functions: the President of the National Assembly, the President of the National People’s Assembly, the Prime Minister, the President of the Constitutional Council, members of the Government, the Secretary-General of the Government, The President of the Supreme Court, the Chairman of State Council the Governor of the Bank of Algeria.

The original nationality of officials of the security services, the head of the Independent High Electoral Observation Commission, the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, the commanders of the armed forces, the military regions and any specific senior military responsibilities that are regulated by law.
