Algeria’s former interior minister Dahou Ould Kablia defended the current electoral law, saying he absolute majority rule is monopoly.“Monopoly is not a democratic act. In the old electoral law, the absolute majority rule allowed the dissolved-Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) to have control on local and legislative elections,” said Ould Kablia. This comes as Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) party Amar Saidani criticized the relativity rule in the electoral law. The former minister said the electoral law was evoked during cabinet meetings.
