Over 1,600, 000 families ask for Ramadan’s food aid
A report that was prepared by the Algerian League of Human Rights revealed that about 24% of Algerians live under the poverty line, while the number of Algerian families who benefit from Ramadan food aid reached about 1,628,000, waiting for the final number of this year’s subscribers, after the launch of the registration process since 15 days, and that noticed chaos and queues at the civil status services.
In this context, the report of the Algerian League of Human Rights, which copy was obtained by Echorouk, shows that the government kept the same formula of Ramadan food aid, including the content of the food items, that cannot fill the needs of any poor families, as the National Secretary in charge of specialized files, Houari Keddour, demanded the replacement of the food aid that is distributed for the needy who are registered in municipalities and compensate them with a financial grant, worth 20,000 ZDZ.
The report emphasized that the suffering of the needy from Ramadan aid have become a melancholic scenario that is repeated every day, despite the officials promised to organize operations to take advantage of this governmental aid, as the distribution of this aid noticed delayed until the end of Ramadan.
