Over 35,000 Imams to distribute Ramadan aid instead of mayors

Religious Affairs’ Minister, Mohamed Issa, announced on Tuesday, about the possibility of reducing the costs of the pilgrimage for this season after the negotiations that were conducted between the ministry and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as he asserted the readiness of35.000 imams to oversee the distribution of Ramadan aid baskets by the Red Crescent.

“Reducing the costs of pilgrimage for this season will allow the economy of nearly 6 billion ZDZ. This will have a good effect on the costs of the pilgrimage. Cost of pilgrimage is determined by the ministry during the first inter-ministerial meeting that is scheduled for next Thursday.

He added, during a press conference that was held at the House of Imam, on the sidelines of a seminar on the topic of “Quranic miracle” that the joint ministerial meeting will result in the appointment of the Head of National Office for the Hajj and Umrah, identification of the cost of pilgrimage, and the Action Plan that will be adopted in order to make it a success.

In response to a question about the Fatwa Academy project, the minister said that the project is ready and will be submitted to the government secretariat next month, stressing that the legal establishment is complete and the Wilayas began the process of proposal of a Mufti Imam, and called on all Wilayas to renew confidence in the trustees of the scientific councils or elect others.
