Number of Algerian tourists who entered the Tunisian territory during the period from January,1 to April 10, 2017 increased by more than 480,000, an increase of more than 68% compared to the same period of last year, Tunisian Tourism and Handicraft Minister, Salma Loumi, said during her presence on Friday evening, in the Tunisian channel “Al Hiwar”.

“The Ministry expects a similar increase to the total number of Algerian tourists, who will visit the Tunisian cities and coasts for the summer holidays of this year. The influx of Algerians is the most important, among the tourists who come to our country”.

“Algerians will visit the Tunisian cities and coasts for the summer holiday this year. These numbers are record, especially since the peak of the tourist season has not yet started, and the Algerians are expected to start their tourist season in Tunisia this year, immediately after Eid al-Fitr, in early July”.

Observers to the tourism matters in Tunisia believe that the total number of Algerians, which is expected to be received by various tourist facilities will reach more than 2 million tourists, and may also reach 2.5 million tourists. Part of the rise in the number of Algerians who are coming to Tunisia is due to the cancellation of the entry tax that was imposed on Algerian cars, which is estimated at 30 Tunisian dinars, or about 2200 DZD.

Tunisia Tourism Minister asserted that her country’s authorities would provide more facilities for the Algerians, who considered Tunisia their second country and would be encouraged by special treatment and reductions. She revealed that Tunisia is expected to receive about 6 million foreign tourists from around the world during the current tourist season.
