Over 60.000 Algerians To Perform Ramadan Umrah

National Bureau of Hajj and Umrah recorded over 60.000 files to go to Umrah during the current month of Ramadan, which is a historical figure that is recorded by the services of Youcef Azzouza, with an increase of 12.000 pilgrims compared to the previous year.

In contrast, the follow-up Committee that belongs to the Office at the level of airports and the holy sites released about 73 violations of the law, after which there was the withdrawal of the accreditation of a tourist agency on charges of involvement in visas trading.

Services of Youssef Azzouza expected a significant increase in the number of Algerian pilgrims who are travelling to the holy places to perform the Ramadan Umrah compared to last year. 

Latest statistics revealed that 20,000 Algerians went to the holy sites during the first five days of the holy month of Ramadan, waiting to join 40.000 pilgrims from the beginning of next week.

In this regard, Ahmed Touhami, who is in charge of the follow-up at the level of the National Bureau of Hajj and Umrah, told Echorouk that the number of Algerian pilgrims of this season noticed an increase compared to previous years, which made Algeria occupy the leading ranks in the number of pilgrims who are heading to the holy sites to perform Umrah.

On the other hand, the spokesman revealed that the monitoring committee at the level of three national airports, and the holy sites issued 73 violation, during which a travel agency was closed for two years on charges of trading in visas, while 7 violations are related to handling.

The concerned agencies were alerted to the need to register at the National Bureau of Hajj and Umrah, while the number of agencies that violated the contracts with the pilgrims reaches 13 travel agencies, after receiving complaints from the pilgrims about the conditions of their stay and not declaring the trips.

According to the same source, the follow-up and accompaniment committee in the holy sites paid a surprise field visit and listened to the impressions of pilgrims and recorded their concerns, in addition to hearing the representatives of the concerned tourist agency with organizing Umrah, accordingly, all recorded violations were released with the obligation of agency owners to respect the contracts that are signed between the two parties

On the measures that are taken against the violating agencies, Ahmed Touhami said that the competent committee is studying the edited minutes before taking any administrative action.

On the other hand, the sources revealed that over 17,406 pilgrims of this season paid for the cost of Hajj at the level of banks, pending the completion of the rest especially as the deadline for the completion of the process will be on the 21st of this month, in contrast, 16.071 pilgrims completed their medical examinations.
