Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Tuesday said partnership with France will be enhanced and mutual benefit will be gained if Paris recognizes history facts.

In a letter on Algeria’s 55th Independence Day, Bouteflika said “Independent Algeria started building an exceptional partnership with France which should be beneficial for both sides. This partnership will be enhanced by recognizing history facts.”

“This reminder is not a call for hate even if our people still insist on the colonizer to recognize its crimes,” he added.

“By remembering the past and what we had experienced under the French colonization, we exercise our right to preserve memory to be faithful to our ancestors who resisted. Millions of them were killed and hundreds of thousands were kicked out from their home. Millions were deprived of their land and belongings. We exercise our right to preserve memory to be faithful to our people who sacrificed a million and a half to recover their national sovereignty and independence,” said the President.
