National police chief General Abdelghani Hamel Wednesday said the police did not issue an arrest warrant for businessman Issad Rebrab. “He is a free man. There is nothing against him.”

This comes as it was said Rabrab is prosecuted in economic cases and he is on the run after an arrest warrant had been issued for him.

Hamel said security coverage in all Algeria will reach 100 percent by 2020 compared to 80 percent at present. That means one policeman for every 260 citizens. Women will represent 30 percent of security forces compared to 9.8 percent.

Hamel inaugurated a medical center in the province of Laghouat. It is intended for policemen and their families. It cost about 27 billion centimes.
