Preparations for launch of 4G service as 6 Algerian provinces are still deprived of 3G
Minister of posts, information and communication technologies, Imène Feraoun, has announced the release of the book of specifications related to the fourth Generation (4G) for the mobile phone, which is likely to be introduced in Algeria before the end of the year, at a time when 6 provinces of the country are still deprived of third-Generation (3G) service.
These hapless 6 provinces must first pass through the now elusive third Generation (3G) and wait for an unspecified time to see their territories covered at last by the much-anticipated 4G service.
Notwithstanding, the announcement by the Minister of the sector, Imène Feraoun, about the upcoming launching of the 4G came amid speculations of gross lapses gripping the telecommunications sector as six provinces of the country are still suffering from the scourge of total electronic isolation after being denied the 3G regular service for a long time now, owing to strange and lame reasons put forth by the three mobile phone operators based in the country.
