Private Pharmacists’ donation worth 1.7 billion DA fails to be delivered to hepless Gaza children!
The financial report of the National Pharmacists’ Union revealed that this financial amount (DZD 1.7 billion Dinars) is presently frozen in the current bank account of the Union, since it wasn’t granted to the hapless children of Gaza as initially planned.
This is what ”Echorouk” learnt, on the sidelines of the Union’s 6th Congress bringing together Algerian private pharmacists in the city of Sidi Bel Abbes in western Algeria.
This amount was collected by the provincial offices of the union to be given to the oppressed children of Gaza by the Algerian Red Crescent, but to date this humanitarian operation has been frozen.
It was even designed to acquire medicalized ambulances with that financial package but who would ensure their delivery in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The idea to raise the funds came after the failure to make donations in kind as the union is concerned that the pharmaceuticals will be stockpiled in ports because of the long-running blockade imposed by the Zionist state on the Gaza enclave.
On the other hand, and in a separate file, Professor Abed, president of Snapo, has refuted in line with ethics and deontology, the last measure of the health ministry whereby pharmacists must carry out medical tests and prescribe drugs in remote areas of the country.
In response to a question about drug shortages, he said that it is the business of all stakeholders to ensure the good health and well-being of citizens.
For its part, the Union recommends encouraging local production of medical products and removing all administrative hurdles now hampering private investors in this vital field of endeavour.
