Recent political developments in Algeria caused a state of confusion on foreign and Western diplomatic missions in particular, due to the accelerated events, forcing them to search for TV channels that will enable them to access the unknown information.

Though the local media talked about the recent events with a lot of details, each according to the political agenda and position, but that did not satisfy the desire of foreign diplomats, in a way that allows them to enlighten their countries’ authorities about the reality of what is happening in Algeria’s dark rooms, and then enable their powers from realizing a clear vision on how to deal with these developments.

United States Embassy in Algiers comes in the fore front, which started a campaign to gain as much as possible information, and began with the meeting that brought together the Ambassador, Joan Polaschik, with the head of the “New Generation” party, Djilali Sofine, which is just the beginning of a series of meetings with political figures, while some sources indicate that these meetings may also include some of the media men later.

United States Embassy in Algeria was not the only one which began this procedure, as the head of the Movement of Peaceful Society, Abderazak Mokri, met with the Ambassador of Sweden, Carin Wall, and the Ambassador of Canada, Isabelle Roy.

Head of the “Vanguards of Freedoms” Party, Ali Benflis, met with the Ambassador of Canada, Isabelle Roy.

Observers did not rule out that the ambassadors will divide their roles and diversify the meetings with actors, before everyone will meet and share information, to minimize efforts and activate the efforts, which is likely to be done by the U.S. Embassy, with the Embassies of Sweden and Canada.

It is interesting that the meetings, that are mentioned above, took place during the last week, the timing which coincided with a letter that was sent by the former head of the Query and Security Department, General Mohamed Madine, who is called Toufik, to the media, which left a large political and media controversy.

These meetings also come in a political circumstance that is shrouded with a lot of ambiguity, which is characterized with the conviction of the retired General, Abdelkader Ait Ouarabi, who is known as General Hassan, the former head of counter-terrorism branch of the intelligence service, with five years in prison, and Djamel Majdoub, former presidential security official, who is convicted to three years in prison.

According to the former Minister and Diplomat, Mohamed Said, what is done by the ambassadors are diplomatic traditions, as long as the matter comes to the accredited parties, but the responsibility is the party that they met, and which must show low-key and not to be dragged behind the enticement in such cases, which may lead to leaking information that may harm their country.
