“Saipem” asks Sonatrach to pay compensations that exceed 1 billion euros

Financial outcome’s report of the Italian SAIPEM report showed that the latter launched several international justice issues against Sonatrach in Paris for projects that are originally subject to judicial inquiry into the way the Italian party obtained them, amid total secrecy by Sonatrach.

The same report showed that the company ended the achievement operations in 6 of its Seven projects in Algeria, which are the same projects that are under judicial investigations in Algeria and Italy, under what is known as the scandal of bribes of $ 200 million, and worse than that, SAIPEM is asking Sonatrach to pay compensations that exceed one billion euros (more than 11 thousand billion centimes).
According to SAIPEM’s financial outcome report of 2014, which is available to Echorouk, the projects which were realized by SAIPEM in Algeria are “GK3”, “Lotto 3” and Hassi Messaoud, GMT headuarters East and “LNG”, as all these projects are concerned with the judicial investigations, in the context of what is known as, ENI- SAIPEM-Sonatrach scandal, showing that 90 million euros are still reserved in SAIPEM’s balances in Algeria, especially JK3 and GMT headquarters East.
Same report, that contained 286 pages, revealed that resorting to international justice in the case of the gas field’s project of GMT house east in Hassi Messaoud (southern Algeria), took place on December 23, 2013, at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris on January, 8, 2014, a justice which has remained a secret by Sonatrach, and were not disclosure neither by the media nor through the annual financial toll of the National Company of Hydrocarbons.
“SAIPEM resorted to international justice and filled a request to increase the contractual deadlines of the project by 14 months and a half, and get the right to payment and transferring the profits of $ 580 million Euros, parallel to the increase in the value of the contract that is resulting from the extension of contractual deadlines’ decisions of the change that occurred in the works and the change of the dinar exchange rate and unpaid bills”.
