Sami Abu Zuhri: “We Cherish Algeria, We Do Not Need Leaders To Represent Us In It “
Hamas movement did not made any formal request to establish its leaders in Algeria because it does not need to, Leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Sami Abu Zuhri, said on Saturday, in a speech to the unity conference between the Movement for a Peaceful Society and the Change Front party.
“The issue of Palestine and Hamas is at the heart of every Algerian citizen and we cherish this country and its leadership, and we do not need leaders to represent us”, Abu Zuhri said
A few days ago, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper quoted Palestinian sources as saying that “Hamas is looking for a foothold in Algeria, among other options on the table, to accommodate the movement’s leaders, as most of them have left Doha and resided in different countries”.
“Hamas movement, which leaders are scattered between Gaza, Lebanon, Malaysia and Qatar, does not want to limit its presence in one country, and seeks to distribute its officials and relieve the pressure from any country, with the presence of a smaller number of leaders and after the experience of Syria and Qatar, and another experience in Turkey, the movement does not want to focus its political weight in any Arab country”.
Commenting on this information, Abu Zuhri said that “it is presented in a meaningless way and those who want to fish in the troubled waters must step down”.
It appears from the statements of this leader in Hamas that there are political objectives to disseminate this information, in light of the Gulf crisis and pressure on Qatar to abandon the leaders of the movement.
