Security services seize 22 spy gadgets in Houari Boumediene Airport

Customs of Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport seize 22 spy gadgets like small spy drones, watches with digital cameras of 2 centimeters, spy pens and microphones, that are prohibited from entering Algeria only after a licence of the National Defense Ministry.

Echorouk available sources said the process was conducted at the beginning of last week, when the inspectorate of customs departments at Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport, during the inspection process of the travelers luggage through the “scanner”, and finding bags inside suitcases, which contain pens that are equipped with surveillance cameras of 2 cm, cameras and microphones under the name “mimi dv”, watches that are equipped with cameras of the type “4 gb_ sc”, and small spy drones which contain high-resolution cameras for audio visual spying.
The sources reported that the operation was carried out by the customs services and resulted in seizing 22 spying gadgets including small drones, 9 watches, 8 pens and 4 cameras, as the preliminary investigations show that the owners did not get the security services’ license, that is led by the Department of Defense, because they are sensitive devices that are used in espionage and which pose a threat to state security and affect the personal and private life of persons.
In a related development, the public prosecutor of Algiers El Harrach Court ordered the competent services to launch an investigation in the sensitive case, and to find out whether the owners of these devices have a relationship with the domestic and international cells, that are linked to spying cells, and to explore the possibility of the existence of a hand behind the case, especially since the initial statements confirm that the gadgets were passed easily in the other country, where the focus in the investigation is on finding out whether the source of those sensitive and prohibited gadgets have relationships with foreign security services or if there are partners.
