Self-defence arms withdrawn from Ghardaia’s residents

Local authorities in the province of Ghardaia started withdrawing self-defence arms from residents who have had them since the black decade. This comes as 23 people were killed in clashes where those arms were used, Echorouk has learnt.

The National Gendarmerie forces are coordinating with Police said it seized many arms used in recent bloody events in the province.

The police also seized hand-made arms like axes, knives, gas bottles, iron sticks and hunting weapons.

Investigations are underway to find out the source of those arms as they were used in the bloody clashes.

According to the same sources, the National Gendarmerie forces and the police are still deployed in hot spots in Ghardaia including Guerrara where 19 people were killed.
