The government has decided to “cleanse” the national social security sector from any illegal situation by enforcing a set of stringent measures aimed at bringing all non-salaried workers associated to the social security fund to reimburse their long-running debts.

These measures provide for the reimbursement of the lingering debts within a seven-month deadline and for punitive sanctions against all dodgers who fail to comply with the newly-adopted guidelines.

Those who reimburse their standing social security contributions in due time will be exempted from any increases or penalties.

The government’s move is designed to beef up the dwindling national social security fund by retrieving about 7,400 billion centimes (DA) as part of still unpaid social security contributions by those concerned.
