Sheikh Abau Abd-el Moez Mohammed Ali Ferkous, issued a fatwa concerning violence against women, in the midst of the debate over the ratification of the amendments of the Penal Code, and which included an article about dealing with the imprisonment of the abusive husband to his wife.

“It is not permissible for the husband to hit his wife unlawfully, or wrongfully.”
“If harming others is disallowed, then violence by the husband against his wife is the greatest injustice, because it is inconsistent with the necessity of accepting the will of the Prophet, peace be upon him: “Treat women kindly”, in addition to the special provisions about the prohibition of violence by husband against his wife.”
Sheikh Farjous spoke in his latest Fatwa about the “Right to discipline the wife between reform and revenge”, and asserted that the prohibition of harming the wife is not limited to the way, but the rule goes beyond every material or moral damage, including violence on the skin or face, or various beatings types because it is retaliation, or moral damage with insults, looks, reference or ridiculing her.
With regard to the husband, Sheikh Farkous said if he has stewardship of his wife and cares about his family, then he is responsible for protecting her from fire, and should not hesitate to teach her, and advise her to obey Allah by complying with his orders and avoid prohibitions with the advice and guidance, and help her to reform herself.
