Sofiane Feghouli: “I yearn to participate in World Cup in Russia and to clinch “CAN” trophy

Algerian national football team star, Sofiane Feghouli, was the guest of the world sports broadcast aired by the “Doori” channel in Qatar on Saturday evening during which he largely dwelt on manifold topical issues notably related to his freewill choice to wear the colors of the national Algerian football squad at the expense of the French national team.

The talented forward of the Spanish first-league Spanish Club of FC Valencia said he chose Algeria out of conviction and the option was that of heart and emotion.

Feghouli asserted that he never regretted this chosen option to be deeply involved with the Algerian national team, a move which was crowned, he said, with the desert Foxes’ latest remarkable participation in the finals of the World Cup tournament in Brazil.

He also affirmed that participating in a football World Cup contest was an immense challenge for him and for his team-mates as well, adding that his most cherished two ambitions ahead would be to clinch with the national football line-up the next African Cup of Nations’ much-coveted trophy and to take part again in the upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament due to be hosted by Russia.

Sofiane Feghouli also referred to the meritorious results achieved by the Algerian national team under the guidance of former Franco-Bosnian team coach Wahid Hallilovicz, stressing that this coach knew how to spur the Greens to forge ahead despite failing to secure a berth at the African Nations Cup finals in South Africa in 2013.

He further extolled the merits of the national football squad who had managed to wrench with flying colours their qualification to the second round of the last World Cup tournament for the first time in the history of Algerian football describing this feat as “remarkable”, as he put it.

The FC Valencia whizz-kid also spoke about the current generation of Algerian players and the goals they yearn to want to achieve in the very near future, stressing that the national team has a good reservoir of young talented players who are determined to hoist the national flag high in all international sporting events by carrying the day and snatching trophies.

Regarding the European football clubs he wishes to have an experience with in the European Championships, Sofiane Feghouli said that his dream remains joining one day the two giant Spanish clubs of either Real Madrid or FC Barcelona and also Italy’s Juventus squad in order to take part in the high-level football competition and to win prestigious titles and trophies.
