Sonatrach-Saipem scandal: Chakib Khalil, Paolo Scaroni outside the trial in Italy

Sonatrach-ENI-Saipem scandal trial in the Court of Milan is officially confirmed that it will be free from the large whales like the former Algerian Energy Minister, Chakib Khalil, the Executive Director of the Italian “Eni”, Paolo Scaroni, and the former Director of Saipem Algeria, Tullio Orsi, who owns all the details of the contracts, while the Algerians who are concerned with the trial are three, Farid Bedjaoui, Samir Ouriad and Omar Habour, which is the same number of Italians who are involved in the trial which first session will be held on December, 2.

In this context, the judge of the preliminary hearing’s session at the Court of Milan, Alessandra Clemente, declared the former CEO of Eni, Paolo Scaroni, not guilty of the charges against him in Sonatrach-ENI- Saipam scandal, relating to international corruption and bribery, as he was acquitted along with the group Eni, as he is a legal personality, and the official of Eni North Africa, Antonio Villa, was also declared not guilty.
In contrast, three Algerians will be involved in this trial and are respectively, Farid Bedjaoui, the supposed negotiator, Samir Oiriad, and Amar Habour, as the court considered him responsible for money laundering of bribes operations across several foreign countries.
Previously, the court had enabled the director of Saipem Algeria, Tullio Orsi, from the Algerian-Italian procedure law, that provides for revealing all his secrets to the court in exchange for the elimination of the two years and 10 months imprisonment, and the confiscation of 1.3 million Swiss Francs from his account.
Court’s body and when it released the list of defendants previously, it found that it was free of the name of the Algerian Energy Minister, Chakib Khalil, despite his name was mentioned in all stages of investigation, because he personally met with the Executive Director of Eni, Paolo Scaroni, regarding the granting of gas field’s deal, east of Hassi Messaoud.
