Tax evaders to get amnesty in 72 hours
Tax department started applying new measures as part of the Complementary Finance Act 2015. Tax evaders will be allowed to benefit from tax amnesty as from August 15th, Echorouk has learnt.
The document which acquits those traders will be ready within 72 hours from their declaration commitment.
According to sources at the finance ministry, the traders will respect the new law while difficulties may take place in some provinces. Usually, their residents refuse to deal with banks and taxes such as farmers.
“Those people’s money will enter the official sector. Tax departments will enable them to settle their situation and get documents acquitting them,” said a source.
“They will work illegally under the State’s protection. Their money will be ensured and protected from theft.”
According to a release posted by tax department on Monday, fiscal administration started applying a voluntary conformity program on August 2nd. Interested people can contact banking agencies for further information.
Economist Bachir Msitpha said the new law is still unclear and does not include enough incitements to convince people who do not like dealing with banks.
“The government should tempt people more by reducing taxes to 10 years, improving business climate, developing transport, Internet services and fax,” he added.
He also believes that the finance ministry should make its position clear towards traders who have more than a commercial register.
