Tayeb Zitouni: “Algerian-French Relationships Are Based On Basic Principles”

Algeria has basic principles that are unchanged and are the basis of Algeria-France relationships towards various common issues that are related to the liberation revolution like the file of the retrieval of archives and skulls of martyrs, the Minister of Mujahideen, Tayeb Zitouni, said in a response to a question on the repercussions of the Prime Minister’s statements on the issue of the pieds-noirs that have taken successive dimensions and the interpretations related to them.

“The ministry is currently in the process of processing four files that are open in coordination with the French authorities, most notably the file of recovering skulls of martyrs and national resistance leaders in the Museum of Human Rights in Paris, and the issue of archives, and a fourth important file that is also open for discussion and treatment through a joint committee on the file recovery of the bodies of the missing during the liberation revolution, including the martyr, Amhamed Bougarra, Arab Tebessi, and Maurice Audin, asserting that the matter is on the right track”, during Zitouni’s supervision, on the signing of cooperation agreements between the Directorate of Mujahideen and the University of Boumerdes and the Directorate of Culture.

“Ministry of Mujahideen is currently conducting a census of all the monuments in order to carry out the preparation and maintenance operations, including the monuments that have disappeared, and a decision was taken to install banners in these locations to preserve the national memory”.

He called on the municipalities to contribute and cooperate in the success of this program, especially the ministry which created special associations to carry out this task and with funding from the ministry to relieve the burden on some of the municipalities with law capacities.
