Algerian Minister of housing, town planning and the city, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has revealed that a brand-new project providing for the construction of 30,000 additional housing units as part of the AADL sale-for-rent housing program will be included in the agenda of the government shortly.

This project will be examined by the Government council over the next 15 days for approval, in order to add to the program more than 35,000 housing units under construction across the country for AADL subscribers eagerly seeking new accommodation, he stressed.

Mr Tebboune added that the progress in the construction works of these new AADL apartments is estimated at between 80 and 85 per cent.

He also recalled that the construction of 105,000 AADL housing units on the whole is now underway.

“The construction of 105,000 housing units, as part of the new program of the National Agency for Housing Improvement and Development (AADL) was already launched,” Tebboune told media outlets.

The Offices of Real Estate Development and Management (OPGI) “were urged to launch the construction of new housing units on behalf of AADL,” he indicated.

Furthermore, the sending of notifications for the new eligible applicants for the first payment was sealed in December 2014, the minister said, estimating the number of those candidates called so far is between 130,000 and 140,000.

In this context, Mr Tebboune said that to ensure the success of this mega operation, 170 civil servants were recruited as extra staff on duty.
