Terrorism: 100 Algerian “Jihadists” in Libya, an Iraqi Emir leads “Daesh”
Leader of the so-called the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham, called Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, appointed an Iraqi from Mosul, who is likely to be a former officer in the intelligence of Saddam Hussein, at the head of the organization in Libya, and the emirate’s center in Derna, which is followed by the provinces of Berga, Fezzan, Tripoli and Sirte, Echorouk sources said.
“Iraqi intelligence service, already warned Libyan counterpart, that a number of the leaders of the so-called Islamic State Organization, will flee to the Libyan territory, after the start of military operations against the organization in Iraq, as Yemenis and Egyptians also controlled the Islamic Courts Administration Libyan in territories that are affiliated to the organization.
Figures that were obtained by Echorouk, from its own sources, show that the number of Algerians who are fighting in the ranks of the “State”, and various terrorist groups that are active in Libya, including those which are linked to al-Qaeda in the Maghreb, which is the least compared to other nationalities, as it does not exceed 100 Algerian fighters, most of them were active in the Sahel region, or those who return from Syrian territory, and a few of them are new recruits in the ranks of the organization.
Dr. Noman Ben Othman, Libyan researcher who is specialized in security affairs and supervisor of the activity of terrorist groups in the region, commented on these developments, saying; “Daesh in Libya, seeks in every way to abort the dialogue between the
Libyan parties, because it is of its interest to keep the situation for what it is, and not establish the state, and this is reflected through, not letting the authorities in Libya currently control the oil fields, without being able to control it, depriving the government of financial incomes, and makes it almost financially unable to run the country.”
“Daesh is working to create difficult economic situation in Libya, to allow him to recruit fighters, and youth of Libya and the country’s leadership in the Libyan Derna receives orders directly from Reka in Syria.”
