During the current year, the ANP military leadership is planning to scale up the production capacity of the Mercedes-Benz industrial vehicles in Algeria.

The production of 3,200 vehicles was programmed before the end of the year, after the product marketing field was opened to the national private sector before expanding its export scope.

In this context, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Algerian company for vehicle industries of the “Mercedes Benz” brand, Colonel Ismail Krikro, stated on the sidelines of the delivery of utility vehicles for the Central Directorate of Equipment, that more than 9,000 cars of various types had been produced since the start of the production line in the company’s factory in October 2014, while the production of 3,200 brand-new vehicles is scheduled during the current year 2017.

He further asserted that the company delivered in the first four of the year 2017 more than 1,400 vehicles for various customers, including more than 200 cars in March to the Central Directorate of equipment, all types of cars combined, including 63 utility cars for the benefit of the national gendarmerie’ intervention units as well as 25 ambulances, in addition to 127 light cars for all transport areas and four utility vehicles endowed with 23 seats.

The Ministry of National Defense, according to Echorouk sources, is set reduce the proportion of imports by covering 80 percent of the needs of the national market for utility vehicles, and raising production by 2020, after opening the doors to the national private sector and also to the citizens, before expanding the surplus production meant for export abroad.

This will allow for the creation of thousands of jobs, notably a proportion for the benefit of the invalids, thus raising the institution to the level of a real industrial base able to transform the latter into a driving force of the mechanical industry, according to the standards in the factories of the giant German “Daimler” car-maker, the same sources added.
